Students will forge two hot-cut chisels, two fullers, two fullering swages, three round tapered punches, and a side set which will then all be used to create a 2d bear face. These same tools and techniques are used for numerous other animal heads in both 2d and 3d and will provide a solid foundation for more advanced techniques and future classes. There are only 2 slots left. Cost is $100.

This is not a beginner’s workshop. You should be able to forge wedge-shaped, round, and square tapers to a specified dimension, and work without constant supervision. If your heat-treating skills are a little rusty, don’t worry, there will be a refresher course before we heat-treat anything. Both propane and solid fuel forges will be available in the shop. You do not need to bring any tools, anvils, or similar but are of course welcome to bring your preferred tongs, hammers, chisels, etc...

Please email any questions about the workshop to Gerald: BlackBullForge@yahoo.com

23 North West Regional Meeting - will be held at the Route 66 Blacksmith Shop in Elk City. The unconventional date is to avoid a conflict with Thanksgiving weekend. The trade item will be a garden tool.

Mark Aspery Demonstration May 4th & 5th

World renowned blacksmith, author, and educator Mark Aspery is donating 2 days of forging demonstration as a fundraiser for the Saltfork Craftsmen Artist Blacksmith Association (SCABA)! This May 4th and 5th event is being held at the Cleveland County Fairgrounds in Norman, Oklahoma.

Mark Aspery has been teaching and demonstrating blacksmithing for over 30 years and is retiring from the circuit this year. He is most well known for setting the gold standard with his invaluable "The Skills of a Blacksmith" books. His upcoming 4th book in this series will be more of a roadmap, focused on improving individual skills. The projects featured in this soon to be released volume 4, will be the very same ones demonstrated over this 2 day event. This is a rare, and possibly last, chance to learn in person from one of the most prolific and respected educators in the industry. Bring your cameras, your notebooks, your best (and worst!) questions with all proceeds going to support your local non-profit Saltfork Crafters.

All attendees are required to be current Saltfork members, so if you're not already one, or a bit lapsed, head over to https://saltforkcraftsmen.org and fix that! (click membership application in the top right).

Use the links below to get your seats reserved now. Ticket sales are non-refundable and final.

$100 gets you access to both Saturday AND Sunday: https://square.link/u/MzaGzC8T

$75 gets you access to one day of your choosing: https://square.link/u/iWr3OOeb

Mark is also graciously donating the pieces he forges over the weekend to Saltfork, which will then be auctioned off at the event!
